Obituary for Verda Ann Gettes (Gettes)

Verda Ann Gettes, 57, of Erlanger, KY passed away Friday, October 12, 2018 at her home in Erlanger. She was born January 24, 1961 in Covington, KY to the late Harry and Nellie Gettes. Verda is survived by the love of her life: Richard Deck, her loving daughters: Crystal Terry, Amber Gettes, Lisa, Sherry, and Rhonda Deck, and her beloved grandchildren: Christopher Deck and Bianca Gettes. A memorial visitation will be held for Verda on Thursday, October 18, 2018 from 3pm until 5pm at Serenity Funeral Care, 40 West 6th Street, Covington, KY 41011. A service will be held following the visitation at 5pm at the Funeral Home.

My heart is broken sitting here alone in the dark thinking about all of the fun memories we have had. I miss you so much :'( I miss playing with your hair when I am anxious, smothering you with hugs and kisses, and coming in 50000 times a day during my work shift just to say hi, or the silly texts you'd sent me laughing at my reactions to customers. The trips we would take to Remke and stock up on clearance items and trying new things to eat. I remember coming and laying in your bed and falling asleep after a long day and the nights you'd let me stay in there and snuggle with your pillows. I just sat and zoned out today and I saw 3 red cardinals. I couldn't help but to cry. I know you're at peace and with grandma and grandpa. I love you and my life will always have a spot that is now hollow. Thank you for everything that you've done for Bianca, Dinah, and myself. We appreciate and love you. Enjoy the beach in heaven.

On October 12th at 10:20am my beautiful grandma was pronounced dead. There wasn’t a day I wouldn’t thinking about what I would do with out my grandma my soul and savior and my angel. But now I know she is in heaven with her parents probably drinking a cup of coffee and looking down on me and my family. My grandma and grandpa raised me even when we didn’t have it she always made a way. My grandma was my number one supporter. Even if I did bad she saw the good in me. I use to lay down in her bed when I was a child and she use to tell me a story about any cow and and young boy named Christopher everywhere the young boy went the cow went also. She use to sing twinkle little star to me when we were driving in the semi with my grandpa. She even took me to party’s and she would listen to rap and bop her head back and forth now tell me who’s grandma would do that. My grandma was my mother my grandma and my best friend.
