Obituary for Tommy Ray Lesley

Tommy Ray Lesley, musician and self-proclaimed river rat packed up his guitar, departed this world and headed to his next gig, a dimly lit lounge in Heaven. Tommy was born in Maysville, KY and although he was always drawn to his hometown, he didn’t dig his feet in too deep to those banks. His love for music and radio inspired him to travel the country. After attending broadcasting school in Milwaukee, he pursued a career working as a disc jockey recording voiceovers and spinning vinyl at various radio stations throughout the country. While he was the loved voice and personality behind the mic; his passion for music and the story led him to record several songs including his first record The Only Place Open Till Four and following in 1982, Folks Just Like You. Tommy is an avid contributor of The Greater Cincinnati Homeless Coalition and wrote his song Folks Just Like You in 1982 after a period of down and out living. This was a period of Tommy's life which was painful but of which he is not ashamed. The family has requested that remembrances be made in the form of donations to The Greater Cincinnati Homeless Coalition in Tommy's name. Tommy was preceded in death by his parents: Dorothy Davenport and Thomas Lesley; son: Nicholas Lesley and grandson: Richard Denney Jr. Tommy is survived by his son: Tommy Ray Lesley Jr.; daughters: Sally (Guy Schwartz) Lesley, Virginia (Mark) Lesley Jones, Lori (Donnie) Gallagher and Lisa (Mark Rieckhoff) Lesley O’Cull; 4 siblings; grandchildren: Ryan Henderson, Ian O’Cull, Aaron Kitchen, Nicholas Lesley, Lauren Lesley, Olivia Claire Jones, Aidan Noah Jones, Josie Isabella Jones, Adrianna Isadora Denney, Lydia Rosalea Denney, Clara Elise Denney, Vincent Andrew Denney, Miakoda Mary Lynn Schwartz and great-grandchildren: Pierce Kitchen, Lance Kitchen, Jaxon Henderson.
