Obituary for Paul Marvin "Tate" Hageman

Paul Marvin “Tate” Hageman, 90, of Edgewood, passed away on Thursday, April 6th at Florence Park Care Center. Tate was a graduate of Dixie Heights High School and attended Eastern Kentucky University after serving in the U.S. Army. He was stationed in Trieste, Italy during the reconstruction of Europe. Tate then went on to have a 30 year career as an agent with the Kentucky Department of Revenue. Tate enjoyed sports and coached boys basketball. He loved following UK basketball and the Cincinnati Reds. Tate was the long time treasurer of Latonia Sports Social club and was known for organizing trips to Notre Dame football games, houseboat outings to Lake Cumberland and UK and Reds games. Tate excelled in men’s softball during his life and was inducted into the Northern Ky Sports Hall of Fame in 1985. He continued to play until age 65 and was a member of two Senior National Championship teams. Tate was preceded in death by his parents Theophile “Tate” & Irma Thirs Hageman, a brother Ronnie and sister Irma Lee Kremer. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years Darla Zosel Hageman; sons Ted & Tim (Nora) Hageman; 4 grandchildren, Tate, Eileen, Nick & Holly and his sister Ruth Coyle and many nieces and nephews. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 3:00 - 5:00 pm Monday April 17 at Serenity Funeral Home 40 W 6th St Covington, KY 41011. Contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
