The Honorable Mark Alan Lillenstein died in his home in Florence, Kentucky on February 4, 2022, surrounded by family with the services of Hospice. He was born in Queens NY on September 21, 1942, to Ben and Emily Lillenstein. He is survived by his wife Dr. Heinke Peters Lillenstein and brother George Lillenstein, of Manchester, Connecticut. Mark was educated at the University of Rochester and the State University of New York at Buffalo Law School. While in Rochester he met his wife Heinke, and they were married for 57 years – the best decision of Mark’s life. Mark was an incredible father to three children – David (Tiffany) Lillenstein, Laura (Jamie) True, and Jacob (Lauren) Lillenstein. He was the proud grandfather of Sadie, Abigail, Keara, Zachary, Jonah, Joshua, Levi, Emma, and Benjamin. Mark leaves his beloved furry friend Teddy. In addition, Mark is also survived by extended family from Northern Ireland: Gary and Sonya Beattie, their children Daniel and Joanna, and Richard and Leann Watson and their children Jessica and Curtis. He is also survived by his brother-in-law Dr. Donald Peters and his wife Cindy Guido, of North Carolina, and his brother-in-law Wulf (Heide)Berg, of Virginia. Mark practiced law in Western NY and became a judge in the Village of Delevan, NY. He was actively involved in many community associations including Lions Club, Arcade Area Chamber of Commerce, New York State Bar Association, Cattaraugus County Bar Association, New York State Magistrates Association, Board of Directors for Wyoming County Bank, Advisory Board for Genesee Community College, Arcade Boys Scouts, and the Liars Club of Arcade. Although Mark lived most of his life in New York, he became a Kentucky resident in order to vote against Mitch McConnell and would regret not being able to do the same for Rand Paul. Besides his family and friends, his passions were riding his Harley and traveling in the RV with Heinke. They visited every state and many foreign places. Mark’s goal in life was to leave the world a better place and he lived up to that goal. He will be greatly missed by many friends and family members. To honor his memory the family will be establishing a dog park, “Mark Park”, within their community. In lieu of flowers, the family will graciously accept donations to help create Mark Park. Donations can be sent to Innovative Management at: Morgan’s Trace c/o Innovative Management, PO Box 12525, Cincinnati, OH 45212.
