Obituary for Margaret Peake Gittner

Margaret Gittner entered into the loving arms of Jesus 12/27/2021 after a long battle with interstitial lung disease (unrelated to Covid). She has left behind a long list of saddened family, friends and relatives that include her Husband Alan J. (Bud) Gittner, her son Marshall Grissom and wife Brandi, her grandchildren Sawyer and Evie May Grissom and Avery and Alexis Gittner, her stepson Tyler Gittner and his wife Camelle.
Margaret was greeted at the gates by her mom and dad Thad and Martha, her son Anderson, daughter Andrea Paige and stepson Arick Gittner.
Margaret’s family includes sisters Martha Jayne Smith, Hannah O’Bryant and her husband Mark, Tim and Lori O’Bryant, Mary Allen Peake and Sarah Peake and her brother Drew Peake. Her Nephew Andy Peake and his wife Tina.
Margaret’s list of friends would fill a book, but some must be mentioned and include Renate Shanks, Joanne McLaughlin, Penny Djordjevich, Terri Lehman, Joy Pooler, Cheryl Blaine, Lisa Payne, Kathy Houston, Carol Shields, Mary Kent, Connie Grosse and Amy Ho.
Too numerous to count would be all of Margaret’s Silverlake Swim Friends and Prospect Point friends including Alice Clay, Sally Zeidler and others. Apologies to those I have missed.
The rest of this is my final love letter to my wife Margaret. Sweetheart I miss you so much, but I want you to know that the last 20 years with you have been the best of my life on earth. From the 1st day we met, I knew you were the right person for me. You were the most beautiful, intelligent, kind and loving individual I have ever known. By your examples, you taught me the importance of honesty, caring and loving of others as well as patience. Your career in Economic Development and the volume of jobs you brought to the state of Kentucky, that we love so much, was so impressive. You and your family even taught me that it’s OK to love the Cardinals, along with the Wildcats.
Thank you for marrying me and seeing so much of the world together. I will see you again someday as God wills it. P.S. Daisy misses you terribly and has taken up residence on your side of the bed. Alan
In her last desire to give, Margaret has provided her corneas so others may see and donated her body to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center in hopes that some cure may be found for Interstitial Lung Disease.
Instead of flowers Margaret has asked for donations to Hart Animal Rescue of Cincinnati.
A memorial service is to be held in Northern, Ky. At a later date for her local friends and family and in Louisville, Ky. For her Louisville friends and family.
