Obituary for Kathleen Mary Murray

Kathleen (Kathy) Mary Murray, age 74, loving mother of three and adoring wife to husband Thomas J. Murray, passed away peacefully December 4th, 2021, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Winthrop, MA on December 5, 1946, Kathleen was the daughter of the late Leo J. White and Kathryn (Flanagan) White. Kathleen was a 1963 graduate of Immaculate Conception High School in Revere and while working as a waitress at Yeokens in Danvers, went on to receive her bachelor’s degree from Bridgewater State College in 1967. Kathy worked in education for 1 year, then in the finance department of Bank of America (formerly Bank of New England and Fleet Bank) with over 20 years of service in Peabody, Boston, and Providence, RI. Kathy met her husband, Tom, in 1965 at Sandy’s club in Beverly, MA where they danced to the Etta James song At Last. It was love at first sight. They dated while Tom was in the Navy, stationed in Iceland, and were married November 17th, 1968, at Immaculate Conception in Revere. The happy couple raised 3 children in Peabody, MA. As a mother, she was loving, dedicated to her family, hardworking, and kind. Kathy enjoyed spending time with family and friends in Peabody and Freedom NH. Once retired, she was fortunate to reside in Viera, Florida from 2000 - 2016, where she and Tom enjoyed golf, daily trips to the swimming pool, the beach, and the company of good friends. The happy couple then moved to Kentucky to be closer to family in 2016. Kathleen had a full life filled with fun and adventure. She and Tom enjoyed traveling to the Caribbean, Italy, Ireland, Alaska, and many major cities and national parks throughout the United States. Kathleen found joy in the simple pleasures of life such as black raspberry ice cream, the colors periwinkle and turquoise, dark chocolate, and red wine. Kathleen is survived by her beloved husband of 53 years: Tom Murray; sons: Tommy (Anne-Marie Clancy) Murray and Kevin (Erin) Murray; daughter: Christine (Dave) Babicz; brother: Dickie White, and grandchildren: Annabel, Quinten, Thomas III, Matthew, Benjamin, Elena, Isabel, Luke and Leo. Services will be held in Massachusetts at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to a local food pantry.
