Obituary for John "Jack" Joseph Schulte

John “Jack” Joseph Schulte, 72, of Ft. Wright, KY, passed away on Tuesday, January 10, 2023. Born in Covington, KY, on September 18, 1950, he was the son of the late Albert and Margaret (nee: Putthoff) Schulte. Jack was a 1968 graduate of Covington Catholic High School and received a bachelor’s degree from Northern Kentucky University. He was very involved in Mick Noll’s Covington Haus for over 15 years and was the owner of Reuben’s/Rusty’s Catering where he participated for over 30 years in the local festivals such as Oktoberfest, Mayfest, Goettafest and was famous for “The Big Skillet.” Jack was also the co-owner of The Strudel Haus which also supplied strudel to local restaurants such as the Hofbräuhaus in Newport. Jack was a member of the Mainstrasse Association and volunteered at the Parish Kitchen. He was an avid fan of the University of Kentucky sports teams and the Cincinnati Bengals. In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his brother: Bert Schulte; sister: Mary Lee Budde; brothers-in-law: Jerry Budde and Carl Ledbetter and sister-in-law: Pat Schulte. Jack is survived by his beloved wife of 34 years: Kate (nee: O’Conner) Schulte; brothers: Ed Schulte and Tom Schulte; sisters: Martha (Kenton) Wells and Elaine Ledbetter; sister-in-law: Carmen Schulte and was the proud uncle of numerous nieces and nephews. Jack graciously donated his body to the UC College of Medicine for scientific research. A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2023, at 11:00 A.M. at Holy Cross Church, 3621 Church Street, Covington, KY 41015. A Celebration of Life will follow at Molly Malone’s Irish Pub, 112 East 4th Street, Covington, KY 41011 from 1:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M.
