Obituary for Harold Godfried Simon Jr.

Harold Godfried Simon, Jr., 82, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, October 31, 2022, with his brother Jim by his side. He was born in July of 1940 in St. Louis, Mo., and grew up in Northern Kentucky. He was a 1959 graduate of Newport Catholic High School and served in the U.S. Navy.
Harold had an energetic personality that lit up the room when he entered. He had a knack for making you feel special and was the guy you were happy to see arrive at any event because you knew he was going to put a smile on your face. As a lifelong salesman, he brought home tales guaranteed to entertain, and stories that often left you wondering. Playing cards was a passion and no one loved to play gin rummy more than Harold; his skills were legendary and only the most confident were willing to take on the challenge of playing against him.
A best asset was the many “Haroldisms” he shared …including often letting you know the best thing about you was just knowing you and always departing with the promise to “See you on the Late Show”.
More than anything, he loved his grandsons, who affectionately called him “Poppy Harold,” and his daughter Angela. Fortunately, his silly nature and love of people rubbed off on them. His brother Jim was his best friend in life.
Harold was preceded in death by his father, Harold Godfried Simon, Sr.; Stepmother Florence Mae Simon; son, Harold Godfried Simon III; brother Joe; and sisters Betty and Beverly. He is survived by his daughter Angela; grandsons Simon and Fisher; brother Jim (Judy) and several nieces and nephews.
