Born in Akron, OH, on May 21, 1958, he was the son of the late Argyl and Wilma Norman. Barry was a 1976 graduate of Revere High School in Bath, OH. He went on to become a Mercedes Benz Master Technician. He worked in this field for 40 years finishing his career with Mercedes Benz of West Chester, Ohio. While working with Mercedes Benz, Barry competed and was awarded a spot as one of the best 40 mechanics in the U.S. and was flown to Germany for the Award Ceremony where he received red carpet treatment. He was also a motorcycle enthusiast. He competed in the Iron Butt Rally Motorcycle Challenge, where he traveled 12,773 miles in 12 days around the perimeter of the United States.
