Obituary for Barbara Ann Allen-Kelsay (Carey)
Barbara Ann (nee Carey) Allen-Kelsay, age 74, of Maineville, Ohio passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on August 2, 2022 at Hospice of Cincinnati Blue Ash. She was born to the late Henry I. and Charlotte G. (nee Snyder) Carey on March 18, 1948 in Spokane, Washington.
Barbara was a mother and grandmother who had a zest for life, adventure, and making the most of every day. She loved to play cards (Pinochle first and foremost), traveling, dancing, going to the movies, and most recently, tickling and laughing with her grandchildren -- her greatest joy. Barbara was a faithful Catholic with amazing strength and resilience in the face of many challenges throughout her life, but she always had a smile and hug for anyone. She never met a stranger. Barbara leaves a lasting legacy of joy and her quick wit for her family and friends, who had the great pleasure of feeling her unconditional love.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Pat and John Carey. She is survived by her loving children, Jason Allen (Jodi) and Carey Greiner (Jason); 5 adoring grandchildren, Carson, Bryli, Kaila, Myles and Avery, along with extended family members and friends.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date to remember Barbara’s never-dull life. In lieu of flowers, Barbara’s giving spirit would most appreciate donations to two places near and dear to Barbara and her family: Lakeland Village, 2320 South Salnave Road, Medical Lake, WA 99022-0200 or Hamilton County Special Olympics, 4808 Interstate Dr, Cincinnati, OH 45246.
