Archie Ryan Ford, 84, died Wednesday, November 21st at his home in Carrollton, Ky.
He leaves his wife of 58 years, Eva-Maria Ulber Ford; his son, Greg Ford, and (favorite daughter in law) Brittany Gardner Ford, his daughter, Gerda Ford Wise and (favorite son in law), Jeffrey Wise, four grandchildren, he adored, Zachary Wise, Jacob Wise, Addison Ford and Elliot Ford and many close friends.
Born and raised in Carrollton Kentucky, the son of Robert and Bertha Ford, he was a lifelong resident of Carroll County.
In his early years, Archie worked at Eison Brothers, then went into the army in 1957. He served from 1957-1959 in Berlin, Germany. This is where he met Eva-Maria Ulber Ford on a blind date, New Year’s Eve 1958. They would have known each other 60 years this January 1st.
Archie worked for M and T Chemicals for over 25 years. He coached little league baseball and football for many years when his son Greg played sports in Carroll County. Opa, (Archie) loved traveling to see his grand kids play ball. He loved every single minute of every game he sat through. Opa always had a few tips for the grand kids, after every game. :)
Archie loved his family, church family at Hopeful Lutheran Church, Cleveland Browns, Fox News :), Politics :), Coffee Group at McDonalds, Kentucky Wildcats and Cincinnati Reds. He was always thankful for the many blessings God bestowed on him throughout his life.
A celebration of life will take place at Hopeful Lutheran Church in Florence, Kentucky on Friday, November 30th at 2:00pm. Visitation will take place from 12:00-2:00, also at the church. A reception will follow after the service in the church hall.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Archie’s memory to Carroll County Little League, Bluegrass Hospice Care, or Hopeful Lutheran Church.
